FAQ

Do I need to make an appointment?

For most things, yes! Tattoos are by appointment only, booked through the artist individually. Piercings, jewelry changes, and check ups are booked primarily through our online booking link (on homepage) or by calling 360-828-1755. Jewelry purchases are strongly appointment preferred. If you do walk-in for a purchase, check-up, or jewelry change we will do our absolute best to assist you in a timely manner.  Please know that we do not have a designated counter person, so if the piercer is busy with a scheduled client you will have to wait. If you are having a piercing emergency, please come in and we will assist you as quickly as we can. You can always call and see if we have time :)

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays from 12-5 we have two piercers on! This means we sometimes have time for walk-ins, or you can request a tandem appointment (two piercings at the same moment)

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 24 hours or no-show, you will be charged a late cancellation/no show fee, ranging from $15-$50 depending on the appointment (fee is 50% of the piercing service fee, or 100% of jewelry change fee). If you no-show us three (3) times, we will ban you from booking in the future! Cancellations or reschedules more than 24 hours ahead of time face no penalty

What payments do you take?

Cash and credit or debit cards. (Cash is preferred and cheaper for you, because there will be no card fee) We have an ATM in the lobby

What type of ID is required?

We require a valid state or government issued ID, such as a driver's license, passport, identification card, or military ID. This is for any piercing or tattoo. Jewelry changes do not require an ID

How old do I have to be for a piercing?

To be pierced without a parent or guardian present, you must be 18 years old.

Check the “Piercing Info” page for specifics on certain piercing’s age requirements

How old do I have to be for a tattoo?

You must be 18 years or older to get a tattoo in Washington

Do you pierce babies?

No, we do not.

Do you do the "snake eyes" piercing?

No, we do not.

My child wants their ears pierced, what should I know?

We are so happy you’re choosing to take them to a “real” shop instead of a mall kiosk! We pierce children aged 5 and up.

--To pierce a minor (anyone under 18 years old) we require the minor to have a form of ID: state or federal ID, passport, birth certificate, or school ID if over 12 years old. Their parent or legal guardian must be present at the time of piercing and provide their valid state or federal ID. If last names are different between parent and minor, we must have the birth certificate. If you are the legal guardian, we require legal guardianship papers, as well as ID for both you and the minor.

--Make sure they know what to expect! Telling your kids that it doesn't hurt is a lie, and does not benefit them. Have frank discussions about the procedure, aftercare, and living with their new piercings. We explain every step along the way, and try to set realistic expectations for them during the piercing and going forward.

--Tell your piercer if they are in sports, swim, or do any activities where having earrings is not allowed or will cause problems. Sometimes it's best to wait until the off season. We will talk about it!

--Please know that if your child says they don't want to, or behaves in such a way that indicates they are not ready for the piercings, we will not perform them. There is no financial penalty for this.

--You can book in for a "consultation" appointment ahead of time, so you and your child have a chance to come in and see the place, meet the piercer, look at the jewelry, and ask any questions you may have :)

What kind of jewelry do you use?

We use internally threaded or threadless titanium jewelry. We also have a selection of gold options. We carry plastic and glass retainers, glass and stone plugs for stretched ears, and a few niobium options too.

What is threadless jewelry?

To quote Neometal: "Threadless Body Jewelry is the preferred style of piercing jewelry by many of the top piercers across the world. Sometimes called 'push-fit', 'press-fit, or 'snap-together' jewelry, threadless jewelry contains two pieces, the decorative end and the labret post or barbell. Tension holds the two pieces together.

Not only is threadless jewelry the most convenient style of body jewelry out there, it also is the most universal. A variety of different decorative ends can fit one post so you can switch up your style whenever you please!"

My jewelry fell out! What do I do?

If the piercing is still healing, put any (clean) earring you can in to keep the hole open, and come in for a new piece of jewelry ASAP! If you can schedule for a "jewelry change" please do, but walk-in if you must. The fresher or more irritated the piercing the quicker it will close. If you cannot get any jewelry in there, don't force anything, and please come in as soon as possible.

My jewelry fell out! What's your replacement policy?

Jewelry purchased and installed at Chaotic Good will be replaced free of charge if the jewelry is damaged or lost within two weeks of installation. If you lose a plain bead (like a septum, iykyk) we will replace that for free any time. If you lose your jewelry outside of the two week window, we cannot guarantee a free replacement, but please come in to see what can be done! Many jewelry manufacturers have a replacement warranty on their jewelry. If a pin snaps, gem falls out, etc, we can likely get a replacement for you free of charge.

What is the price?

For piercing prices, please click on the “Piercing Info” page. For tattoo prices, please click on the “tattoo” page, where you’ll find each artist. Each tattoo artist prices a bit differently.

Will it hurt?

Of course! But not much, and not for long. No pain no gain ;)

How does it heal?

For piercing aftercare, please click on the “Piercing Aftercare” page. In short, keep piercings clean and dry, and leave them alone. For tattoos, please click on the “Tattoo Aftercare” page. In short, keep them clean, moisturized, and out of the sun.

I'm having problems, what do I do?

Schedule a check up! We offer free cleaning and check up services whether you got the piercing with us or not. We are here to help! If you are having a piercing emergency, please stop by during business hours and we will help you as quickly as we can

Is this a keloid?

Probably not. Please schedule a check up if you are concerned. “Piercing bumps” are very common for healing piercings. They mostly form from pressure and movement (meaning fiddling with them, sleeping on them, wearing headphones, etc, can all cause bumps) True keloids are very rare. Sometimes piercing bumps are from improper jewelry, the angle of the piercing, or something else that only a trained piercer can identify. Please don't trust google and use mystery potions, tea tree oil, etc on them.

Can I bring a friend?

Certainly! We just ask that everyone in attendance is polite and non-disruptive

Can I bring my kid to my appointment?

To a tattoo appointment, absolutely not unless they are over 18. To a piercing appointment, if you must. If the kid is being disruptive in any way we will have to reschedule your appointment

Can I bring my dog?

If it is a legitimate service animal, of course. Otherwise we do not allow furry friends in the studio

Can I bring a comfort item/snacks/etc?

Yes! We encourage that. Bring anything (reasonable) you need to feel comfortable during your piercing or tattoo appointment
